Custom built tool for managing the creation and versions of an evolutionary prototype
This solution (built in Macromedia Flex with a sophisticated Java/ANT/SVN component) was a code generator which took the input and generated behavioral prototypes for stakeholder review, technical feasibility assessment and user experience validation testing.
Components could be built by designers at a range of fidelities and registered with the prototype engine for inclusion in multi-screen, interactive prototypes. A series of built in “customers” had their own sets of data affecting the way components within a resulting prototype will display and behave
To prove that foundational aspects of a Service Design Blueprint were desirable, feasible and had the right balance to deliver business value over what was going to be a long, multi-phase implementation, a way to visualize those milestones and also to test the components with near-real data.
We designed a new system that let designers create designs at the component level, iterate on them, and combine them in multiple ways, and most importantly, save snapshots of these designs as they were reviewed, tested and evaluated.
Non-technical users could assemble prototypes with unique combinations of components and user data (via a set of customers built into the tool) to validate requirements or test assumptions.
